Terms of Service

These terms are between you and Mando Systems Ltd (company number 17168657), registered at 10 Pilgrims Walk, Worthing, BN13 1RJ, United Kingdom. We trade as EmbassyHost.

1. What you're buying

An EmbassyHost plan bundles four things into one monthly or annual price: a domain name, hosting on our UK servers, an SSL certificate, and a website. You do not buy hosting separately and there is no charge to switch SSL on — it is included on every plan and it stays included.

2. Your domain is yours

Any domain we register for you is registered in your name, with your details as the legal registrant. It is never held in Mando Systems' name. If you leave, the domain leaves with you: ask us for the transfer code and we will provide it, normally within one working day.

3. Your right to cancel, and the one thing it doesn't cover

You normally have 14 days to change your mind about a service bought online. That right applies to your EmbassyHost plan.

It cannot apply to a domain name once we have registered it, because registration is immediate and cannot be undone — the registry has already issued it to you. For that reason, at checkout you are asked to tick a box asking us to register the domain straight away and acknowledging that doing so ends your right to cancel that domain. If you would rather keep the 14-day right, do not tick the box; we will hold the order and you can point a domain you already own at your site instead.

Ticking that box does not affect your right to cancel the rest of your plan.

4. Cancelling

You can cancel your plan yourself, in one click, from the billing page in your dashboard. There is no phone call, no notice period and no retention process. Your site stays live until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund part-months unless we have got something wrong.

5. Renewals and prices

Plans renew automatically until you cancel. We email you seven days before a subscription renewal, and 30 days and 7 days before a domain expires. We show real renewal prices up front: we do not advertise a cheap first year and then a much higher second one.

Some domain names are priced above the standard rate by the registry that controls them. Where that applies we show you the actual price before you pay and you must accept it explicitly.

6. If a payment fails

We will tell you. Your site stays up for a seven-day grace period while you fix it. After that the site is replaced by a holding page and your content is kept for a further 60 days, so nothing is lost if you come back. After 60 days it may be deleted.

7. What we expect from you

You are responsible for what you publish. Our Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these terms and sets out what may not be hosted with us. Serious or repeated breaches can lead to suspension.

8. Uptime and support

We aim to keep every site available and to answer support requests within four business hours. We do not currently offer a contractual uptime guarantee with service credits, and we would rather say so plainly than publish one we could not honour.

9. Our liability

We do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Otherwise our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for lost profits or lost business.

Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Changes

If we change these terms in a way that materially affects you, we will email you at least 30 days beforehand. If you do not accept the change you may cancel before it takes effect.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
